Raindrop Boats has been set up by Heike Löwenstein to work on commissions for boats up to 20 feet and custom made high-end furniture, and to provide creative consultancy services.
The name stems from the first boat that Heike build with fellow students at the Boatbuilding Academy in Lyme Regis, a touring rowing boat.

BIO
After a successful career in the Creative Industries, Löwenstein has embarked on a new path in boatbuilding in 2018.
Born into a family of rowers, and growing up next to the river Rhine in her native Cologne, she has a close relationship to water and vessels; she has also rowed competitively in her youth. Coupled with an ongoing interest in architecture, the sea, working with wood, making and building things, Heike followed a call to get deeply involved with creating boats.
Since graduating from the Boatbuilding Academy in Lyme Regis, Heike has started to work as a boatbuilder at Spirit Yachts in Ipswich. During the long course at BBA she focused on both the craft side as well as 3-D design and aesthetics of boats; Löwenstein works with great attention to detail and production requirements.
As an experienced educator, practitioner and researcher Heike has been living in the UK for over 20 years. Her practice encompasses fine art, commercial and interdisciplinary approaches in photography and media. Löwenstein’s photographic work has been shown in exhibitions worldwide and published in several books.
She has a great breadth of experience in teaching positions in Higher Education and other education environments and champions a student-centred approach to teaching and learning.
Löwenstein is bilingual English and German and has been granted indefinite leave to remain and work in the UK.
